Telma Har

Introducing:

I am an artist based in Iceland born in 1985. Over the past few years, I have been using photography as an art form. I frequently use  myself as a mannequin and create characters as a means to reconstruct thought processes. My work serve as a platform to interpret my perception of myself and the world I exist in. Each photograph simultaneously extends into the past, reflecting the elements that shape me and what I have learned, while offering a glimpse into the future I am moving towards. Lately I enjoy creating work using textile and other things that fascinate me or stimulate my senses and one of my goals is to convey the texture through photography and have been experimenting with sewing threads on my photographs. Each conceptual work is complex and carefully infused with layers and layers of meaning. Another driving force these days is researching women’s representation in art and through history whereas it affects women still to this day and aim to break from the male gaze ideals. My creative process consists of sketching up and writing down my concept and I usually create a color palette even though that can change rapidly during the photoshoot. I select the location and do test shots. Then depending on the results I do my shoot. I make my selection and process them.
